A platform swap the business never felt

Challenge

Capital Helicopters has flown Yukon skies for more than 25 years, supporting mining crews, wildfire response, wildlife surveys, outfitters and the occasional glacier sightseer. One website has to speak to all of them, and to the pilots and engineers Capital competes to hire. The content was doing its job. The Webflow build underneath it wasn’t. Editing content meant editing design, so ten service pages, a fleet, a team roster and a run of job postings all changed less often than they should have. Hiring especially.

Solution

We rebuilt on Astro and Directus. The design got cleaner: big condensed type, Capital’s yellow against near black, photography that lets the aircraft and the country do the talking. Underneath, it’s built the way it should be, with alt text on every image and a site that works from a keyboard. Careers became a working part of the site rather than a noticeboard, with a page per role and a real application form. And Directus keeps content apart from design, so posting a role or swapping a team photo takes minutes, with no page builder to knock over.

Results

Capital’s team now keeps its own site current, and a job application arrives complete instead of as a phone number and a promise. The site scores a perfect 100 for accessibility on mobile and desktop, loads fast enough that nothing shifts while you read, and kept every page URL from the old build, so the rebuild cost nothing in search. Organic traffic held steady through the migration and engagement went up, which is more than most platform swaps can say.
