Overview

The Yukon Baby Basket project, launched by the Yukon Government Midwifery Program, aims to support new and expectant parents by providing essential items, educational resources, and a safe sleep option for their babies. This initiative is designed to ease the transition into parenthood by offering practical and supportive resources tailored to the unique needs of Yukon families.

Challenge

The project faced two significant challenges. The first was to create an appealing package that resonated with a diverse audience. The second was developing resources tailored to the unique environment and needs of Yukon families.

Solution

The Yukon Baby Basket was designed to combine practicality, safety, and regional identity. Its sturdy cardboard structure includes a mattress insert, providing a safe and portable sleep option. The design reflects Yukon’s natural beauty, featuring calming blues, greens, and earthy tones, along with stylized landscapes. Each basket contains carefully selected essentials, including clothing, diapers, blankets, and hygiene items, as well as educational materials on safe sleep and breastfeeding. Together, these elements equip new parents with immediate necessities and valuable knowledge, helping them start their parenting journey with confidence and support.
